Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Carfanz Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 14613353) ("PYCL", "we", "us", "our"). They govern your use of the PYCL mobile application and any related websites and services at pycl.app (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you accept these Terms. 1. Who can use PYCL
1.1 PYCL is strictly for adults aged 18 or over. You must be 18+ to create an account or use any part of the Service. 1.2 When you sign up you must complete our age-assurance check (see clause 2). You may not access the Service until you have passed it. 1.3 You must not use the Service if a previous account of yours was suspended or terminated by us, or if applicable law prohibits you from using it. 1.4 By using the Service you represent that the information you give us is true and that you are legally able to enter into these Terms.
2. Age verification
2.1 Access to PYCL requires you to prove you are 18 or over. We use a third-party age-assurance provider that performs a facial age estimation and, if that cannot confirm your age, an ID-document check. 2.2 We receive and store only a pass/fail result and a reference. We do not receive or store your selfie, ID document, biometric data or date of birth. See our Privacy Policy for detail. 2.3 We may re-run or require a fresh age check where we reasonably believe an account may belong to a person under 18, and may suspend access pending the outcome. 2.4 Attempting to bypass, defeat or fake the age check — including verifying on behalf of an under-18 — is a serious breach of these Terms and may be a criminal offence.
3. Your account
3.1 You are responsible for your account and for keeping your login details secure. You must not share your account or let anyone else use it. 3.2 One account per person unless we agree otherwise. Business accounts are covered by clause 10. 3.3 Tell us promptly at info@pycl.app if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission. 3.4 You choose a display name and @handle. You must not choose a handle or name that impersonates another person or business, infringes a trade mark, or is offensive.
4. Your content and the licence you give us
4.1 "Your Content" means everything you post, upload or share on PYCL — profiles, car details, photos, videos, reels, stories, comments, messages, listings and verification evidence. 4.2 You keep ownership of Your Content. You are solely responsible for it and must have all rights necessary to post it. 4.3 You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable and sub-licensable licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt (e.g. resize/transcode), publish, display and distribute Your Content for the purpose of operating, promoting and improving the Service. This licence lasts only as long as Your Content is on the Service, except that (a) content you shared with others may persist where they retain it, and (b) we may keep backup copies for a reasonable period after deletion. 4.4 You grant other users a licence to view and interact with Your Content through the ordinary features of the Service (e.g. viewing, following, sharing within PYCL). 4.5 You waive any moral rights in Your Content to the extent permitted by law, so we can operate the features of the Service (e.g. cropping, adding overlays such as verification badges). 4.6 We do not claim ownership of your vehicle photos or your brand, and we will not sell Your Content as stock imagery.
5. Rules of use
5.1 You must follow our Community Guidelines, which form part of these Terms. In short, you must not post or do anything that is illegal, hateful, harassing, violent, sexual/pornographic, that endangers others, that infringes others' rights, that is spam or a scam, or that misrepresents a vehicle or your ownership of it. 5.2 You must not: (a) break the law or encourage others to; (b) upload content you do not have the rights to; (c) harass, bully, threaten, dox or impersonate anyone; (d) post sexual content, or any content involving anyone under 18; (e) promote dangerous or illegal driving in a way that could cause real-world harm; (f) scrape, harvest, reverse-engineer, or use bots/automation against the Service; (g) attempt to bypass age checks, verification, security or rate limits; (h) interfere with or overload the Service; (i) use the Service to advertise or sell outside the features we provide for it; (j) create fake engagement, fake verifications, or manipulate Revs/rankings. 5.3 We may set and change limits (e.g. on posting, messaging or file sizes) to keep the Service safe and stable.
6. Car data, number plates and verification
6.1 When you enter a vehicle registration ("number plate"), we may look up publicly available vehicle details from the DVLA to help you complete your car profile. You are responsible for only entering plates for vehicles you are entitled to. 6.2 You can choose whether to display or hide your number plate on your public profile. Consider your privacy before displaying it. 6.3 Verification features let you prove (a) that a car is genuinely yours ("Real & yours") and, optionally, (b) its power and (c) its performance times, by submitting evidence. Verification badges reflect what our checks and evidence show at a point in time; they are not a guarantee by us, and we may add, downgrade or remove a badge (for example if evidence is withdrawn, disputed or found to be false). Submitting false verification evidence is a breach of these Terms. 6.4 The one-time "possession" photo used for the "Real & yours" check is stored privately and is never displayed publicly.
7. Revs, rankings and virtual items
7.1 "Revs" are non-monetary reputation points, and rankings/badges are recognition, earned through genuine use of the Service. 7.2 Revs and rankings have no cash value, cannot be bought, sold, transferred, redeemed or withdrawn, and are not your property. We may adjust, reset or remove them — for example to correct errors, reverse manipulation, or where an account is removed. They are not e-money and confer no financial rights.
8. Moderation, suspension and removal
8.1 We screen some content automatically before it is posted and may review content that is reported. We may remove content, limit features, or suspend or terminate an account where we reasonably believe these Terms or the Community Guidelines have been breached, or to comply with the law or protect users or the Service. 8.2 Where practical and lawful we will tell you what has happened and why, and you can appeal by contacting info@pycl.app. For serious or repeated breaches, illegal content, or risks to others, we may act immediately and without notice. 8.3 We operate a reporting and complaints process (see the Community Guidelines). We aim to deal with reports of illegal or harmful content promptly.
9. Advertising and third-party content
9.1 The Service may include advertising and links to third-party sites or content. Ads will be identifiable as such. We are not responsible for third-party sites, goods or services, and your dealings with third parties (including other users, e.g. buying a car listed for sale) are at your own risk. 9.2 PYCL is a venue; we are not a party to any sale, purchase or other transaction between users. Do your own due diligence before buying, selling or meeting anyone.
10. Business accounts (where offered)
10.1 We may offer business accounts (for example for garages, tuners, detailers and other traders) with additional features such as a business profile / "shop window", and these may be paid subscriptions. 10.2 If you register a business account, you confirm you are authorised to act for that business, and additional business terms and pricing will apply and be presented to you before you subscribe. Consumer cancellation rights and billing terms (where applicable) will be set out at the point of purchase. 10.3 Business accounts must not post misleading commercial claims and must comply with advertising and consumer-protection law.
11. Intellectual property in the Service
11.1 The Service, and the "PYCL" name, logo, software and design, are owned by or licensed to Carfanz Ltd and protected by law. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service as intended by these Terms. You get no other rights. 11.2 Reporting infringement: if you believe content on PYCL infringes your intellectual property, contact info@pycl.app with details of the work, the infringing content, and confirmation you are entitled to act. We operate a notice-and-takedown process and may remove content and remove repeat infringers.
12. Disclaimers
12.1 We provide the Service with reasonable care and skill, but "as is" and "as available". We do not guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that content posted by users is accurate, lawful or reliable. 12.2 Content on PYCL is created by users. We do not endorse it and are not responsible for it, subject to our legal duties.
13. Liability
13.1 Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud). 13.2 Subject to clause 13.1, and because the Service is provided free of charge to consumer users, we are not liable for: loss of profit, business, goodwill or data; or any indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability to a consumer user for any matter is limited to £100. Where you pay for a business subscription, our total liability in respect of that subscription is limited to the fees you paid in the 12 months before the claim. 13.3 We are not liable for the acts of other users or third parties, or for transactions between users.
14. Your promises to us (indemnity)
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to reimburse us for reasonable losses we suffer arising from your breach of these Terms or your unlawful use of the Service.
15. Suspension, termination and your right to leave
15.1 You can stop using PYCL and delete your account at any time in the app or by contacting info@pycl.app. 15.2 We may suspend or end your access as set out in clause 8, or on reasonable notice if we stop offering the Service. 15.3 On termination, your licence to use the Service ends. Clauses that by their nature should survive (e.g. 4.3 backups, 7, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16) survive.
16. Changes to these Terms
16.1 We may update these Terms (for example for new features, or legal or security reasons). If a change is material we will give reasonable notice (e.g. in-app or by email). Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms; if you do not agree, you should stop using the Service and may close your account.
17. General
17.1 Governing law and jurisdiction: these Terms and any dispute are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK you may bring proceedings in your home nation. 17.2 If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest continues in force. 17.3 We may transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms (e.g. on a reorganisation or sale of the business); this will not affect your rights. You may not transfer yours without our consent. 17.4 These Terms (with the Community Guidelines and Privacy Policy) are the entire agreement between us about the Service. 17.5 Nothing in these Terms affects the statutory rights you have as a consumer.
